TENSE Phase Protection Relay - adjustable asymmetry 5-50%

The TENSE (Turkey) phase protection relay is designed to protect three-phase electric motors and other three-phase equipment from faults in the electricity supply network. The device checks for correct phase sequence, phase asymmetry, undervoltage, overvoltage, and ensures safe load disconnection when set limits are exceeded.

Due to its wide range of settings, the relay is suitable for most industrial and commercial applications, especially where precise and stable motor protection is required.

Operating Principles

Normal operation

When the voltage of all phases does not exceed the set limits and the phase sequence is correct:

• the relay operates,

• the OUT LED lights up.

Overvoltage error (H)

• If the phase exceeds the set limit → Err In time is awaited, H is displayed.

• The relay switches off, the OUT indicator turns off.

• When 5V drops below the set value, Err OUT starts, the relay turns back on.

Undervoltage error (L)

• Drop below the set limit → Err In is awaited, L is displayed.

• The relay switches off.

• When the voltage rises 5V above the set limit → Err OUT time is awaited, the relay turns on.

Phase asymmetry (Asy)

• If the voltage difference between phases exceeds the set limit (5-50%):

  • ASy is displayed after Err In time, the relay switches off.

• When asymmetry drops below (set limit - 2%) → Err OUT wait time, the relay turns on.

Phase sequence error (pHs)

• If a phase sequence error occurs, the relay waits for Err In, then displays pHs.

• The relay switches off and remains off until the correct sequence is restored.

• After correcting the phase sequence, Err OUT occurs and the relay turns on.
