Reactive power regulation relays are used to reduce the reactive power (inductive and capacitive) that is not consumed by the load and is drawn from the network. When inductive power is drawn from the network, it intervenes by switching in a capacitor of appropriate value. If capacitive power is drawn from the network, it intervenes by switching in a shunt inductor of appropriate value. This aims to reduce the inductive/active and capacitive/active ratios of the system. It is designed to provide more acceptable compensation in unbalanced inductive and capacitive systems with an RGT-MT18 TCR step.
